Prerequisites - before you install...

Make sure that you have the following things ready before you start to install the 1-2-3 Music Store:

  • Your own website with php version 4.1 support
  • A server and your server access data
  • A PayPal business account
  • An FTP program
  • A database (MySQL database version 3.23) and your database access data
You really do need all of this. If you are missing something, you'd better get it before you try to install. You can get a PayPal account here and free FTP software here.

Step by step installation

Set up directories

  1. After payment, you will receive an email containing a download link. Click the link - you will get a zip file called "1-2-3-Music-Store" which contains 5 objects:

    • docma folder
    • public folder
    • install.php
    • process.php
    • rename_.htaccess

Extract the files, but don't open them just yet...

  2. Log in to your website using your FTP program. Make sure you have a public folder (http: directory) and a private folder.
  3. Go to your public folder. From the files you downloaded, copy the folder "public" and the files "rename_.htaccess", "install.php" and "process.php" into this folder. (Note: in case you're not sure, the http: folder is public, the folder before that is your private folder)
  4. Rename the file "rename_.htaccess" to ".htaccess".
  5. Go to your private area directory. Copy the folder "docma" into this directory.
  6. Open "docma". You will find a directory called "System". Change the permissions of "System" to full access for everyone - chmod 777.
  7. Go to your public area directory. Find the folder "public" and change the permissions to full access for everyone - chmod 777.
  8. Enter the following text in your browser bar: http://url-of-the-website.com/install.php
  9. You will go to a new screen with a form in 4 sections. Complete the form as follows:

General:

  1. Enter your name, the name of the website or store and your e-mail address. This e-mail address is used for all shop-related communication.
  2. Enter the Docma File path - this is the directory where your docma file, for all song and artwork files, is located. It should be the private area directory.

PayPal Account:

  1. Enter your PayPal email address.
Important: enter the same email address you use in your PayPal account. If you enter a different address you won't be able to sell anything...

Authentication Settings:

  1. Enter your user name, password and e-mail address. If you forget your password, it will be sent to this e-mail address.
Database Settings

  1. These settings come from your hosting service provider. Enter the location for your MySQL database server, your MySQL username, password and the name of the MySQL database.
  2. Click Install and you're finished.

If you want to upload sound file or artwork, please use the following directories:

/html/public/images - for your album images
/html/public/demos - for your free sample audio files
/protected/docma/system/files/songs - for your full audio files to sell
/protected/docma/system/files/artwork - for your artworks

And change the Product Preferences to ftp upload.

Customizing the shop interface

We recommend that you customize the interface to fit in with your website. The templates are standard HTML with stylesheets, so anyone with a bit of HTML know-how can customize the interface in a standard HTML editor. It’s quite easy to change colors, fonts and basic layout. We request (and advise) that you leave the “structure” of the store (buttons, forms, etc) as it is.

If (or when) you decide to modify the shop layout, you can find the templates here:

docma/modules/1-2-3 music shop/templates/shop

When you’re finished, you have to copy the templates back to the folder for the the 1-2-3 music store to find them and use them. Put the finished templates here:

docma/modules/1-2-3 music shop/templates/shop
